Ruby-Spears’ Superman: DC Comics Classic Collection

The Man Of Steel’s 1988 animated series is a surprisingly epic, mature and quality made show that bridges the gap between the Christopher Reeve movies and later animated versions.

Inside The Box: Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs DVD and Blu-ray Disc Comparisons

Still not sure which version of Snow White is right for you? With the DVD now available, we delve into all the options including a peek inside the deluxe big red box!

A Christmas Carol

Scrooge himself and the Ghost Of Christmas Present finally break the motion-capture spell in this magically spirited film, but the obvious and merely adequate production design and other characters can’t but fall unfortunate victims to the process…

Up

Disney/Pixar’s latest triumph isn’t quite the all-out masterpiece it has been hailed as, its soggy central act lifted by an outstanding opening and exciting climax, but it looks and sounds beautiful and is serviced well enough on its Blu-ray debut.

Monsters, Inc.

Pixar’s fourth film makes it to Blu-ray in an absolutely stunning hi-def experience, but despite an abundance of discs (a second BD, DVD and Digital Copy), there’s little new here and even some missing ingredients.

The Prisoner: The Complete Series

Online discounts bring Patrick McGoohan’s classic groundbreaking thriller adventure down to a more reasonable saving, but the restored HD image and supplements, including a comprehensive new documentary is well worth the price anyway!

Merry Madagascar

DreamWorks Animation’s second seasonal special amplifies everything that is good and bad about their Madagascar franchise, from the decent squashy animation to loud, shouty dialogue, with too much screen time, as usual, handed to lemur King Julien.

Saturday Morning Cartoons – 1960s: Volume 2

A couple of new-to-DVD shows are here, but otherwise this set gets bogged down in Looney Tunes and more of what we’ve seen before. Jetsons again?!

Justice League: The Complete Series

Justice League finally gets released in a complete series set containing all 91 episodes from the show’s five year run on the Cartoon Network across 14 discs.

Saturday Morning Cartoons – 1970s: Volume 2

More Saturday morning fun from Warner Bros.! There are few classics here, but lots of fondly remembered shows and a few obscure gems.

Fantastic Mr Fox

Forget whatever you’ve heard: Mr Fox is a Wes Anderson film pure and simple, and marks that rare occasion when a live-action director brings a unique, and genuinely Fantastic, new perspective to the animation medium.

Tinker Bell And The Lost Treasure

The second Tinker Bell movie improves on the first, with an adventurous tale that teaches lessons of responsibility and friendship.

Ice Age: Dawn Of The Dinosaurs

Though still pretty cool, the Ice Age franchise needs to come up with some new directions if it’s going to remain fresh, and although fair value, this Blu-ray and DVD combo features an odd mix of old and new material.

Peanuts: 1970’s Collection Volume 1

Only six specials over two discs, but you can’t argue that most of them are pretty good.

Cars: Ultimate Gift Pack

Pixar’s gleaming fender took an albeit minor dent with Cars, here driven around the block one more time with both original DVD and Blu-ray releases accompanied by McQueen and Mater model cars and gift set packaging.

A Muppet Christmas: Letters To Santa

There’s little genuine Christmas cheer enclosed with these Letters, I’m very sorry to write, in this labored and unauthentic special, which is probably not destined to become a Christmas classic and where the old Muppets magic fails to sparkle.

Wallace And Gromit: The Complete Collection

The charming British inventor-and-dog team get their best disc yet, including their newest effort, A Matter Of Loaf And Death. With only a couple of minor caveats, this is the best way to collect their adventures.

Winnie the Pooh: Seasons of Giving – 10th Anniversary Edition

This would-be-classic originally came out in 1999 on video and has recently been repackaged in a tenth anniversary edition along with a collectible Christmas stocking.

Michael Jackson’s This Is It

High School Musical director Kenny Ortega gives fans a chance to see Michael Jackson in rehearsal for his never-to-be London concerts.

Tom and Jerry’s Greatest Chases: Volume 3

The cartoons included on this set are some of the best in the cat and mouse duo’s career. They include several Academy Award nominated shorts spanning over one decade.

Gigantor: The Collection, Volume Two

More giant robot action is always good, I suppose, but there’s more history than excitement in these primitive shows.

Superman/Batman: Public Enemies

This is a wild ride, though far from the best story to adapt from the comics. There are some nice extras on the disc, however.

The Transformers: Season Two, Volume One (25th Anniversary Edition)

The second season of The Transformers continues the success of the show with new episodes featuring the continuing battle between the Autobots and the Decepticons.

The Astonishing Work Of Tezuka Osamu

Art triumphs over commerce! Here are thirteen less commercial works from the creator of Astro Boy, each marvelous to behold.

Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs: Diamond Edition

In short, Disney’s new Diamond Edition of Walt’s first boasts a beautifully clean new transfer, but for all the bells and whistles, the supplements are not the fairest in the land.

The Disney Song Encyclopedia

Jeremie Noyer reviews Thomas S. Hischak and Mark A. Robinson compendium of the Disney song catalog.

X-Men: The Animated Series – Volume 4

The X-Men return with their fourth volume of stories from the show’s third and fourth seasons.

X-Men: The Animated Series – Volume 3

The X-Men return with their third volume of stories from the show’s third and fourth seasons.

Bedknobs And Broomsticks: Enchanted Musical Edition

Unfairly knocked for being a poor man’s Mary Poppins, this film has its own richness of magic. Though this is a lesser package than the previous DVD edition, it is still bound to please most who haven’t got the old DVD already in their collections.

Pooh’s Heffalump Halloween Movie (Limited Edition with Plush)

Lumpy and Roo celebrate their first Halloween together in the Hundred Acre Woods.
