Story, as the saying goes, may be king. But a weak story doesn’t have to be the death of a film when, like The Book of Life, the animation, music, humor, acting, and everything else is so heavenly.

The Book of Life opens

Reel FX’s The Book of Life opens today in 3,069 theatres, according to Box Office Mojo. The film is doing well with the critics, earning a 74% rating from Rotten Tomatoes. Box Office Prophets projects a third place finish this weekend with $17 million, while Mojo predicts the same placement with $19 million.
