DreamWorks Kung Fu Panda 2 opens today in 3,925 theatres according to Box Office Mojo. The film is doing well with critics, earning a fresh 76% rating so far at Rotten Tomatoes. BoxOffice.com projects a second place finish for the weekend with $90 million.

Fox picks up two new animated series

Animation Magazine has news about two new animated series heading to the Fox network: Allen Gregory, which follows the “adventures of the world’s most celebrated seven-year-old going to school with normal kids”, and Napoleon Dynamite, based on the popular film.

Disney has announced that The Fox and the Hound and The Fox and the Hound 2 will be coming to Blu-ray and DVD in a special 30th Anniversary 2-Movie Collection. The all-new digitally restored version of the original 1981 film and its 2006 direct-to-video sequel arrive in stores on August 9, 2011.

DreamWorks bringing characters to vacations

New Cars 2 posters and Lasseter interview

Hollywood.com has seven new posters for Cars 2, each featuring the film’s characters in a different country. And IGN talked with director John Lasseter about the making of the film, where he mentions that the spy storyline almost had a place in the original film.

Rango tops box office

Rango easily topped the weekend box office in its first week taking in $38.1 million according to Box Office Mojo. That total passes The Green Hornet’s first weekend making it the top opening film of the year so far.

Paramount/Nickelodeon’s Rango opens this weekend in 3,917 theatres according to Box Office Mojo. The Gore Verbinski directed, Johnny Depp starring film is doing very well with the critics, earning an 88% fresh rating from Rotten Tomatoes. A big weekend is predicted, with Box Office Prophets projecting a $47.4 million take
