Two stills from the rare 1978 Don Bluth-directed short The Small One can be viewed by clicking on the ‘More’ link. The Small One will be released to DVD for the first time on September 27 as part of the Classic Cartoon Favorites: Volume 9 – Classic Holiday Stories collection from Disney.

Newport Beach Film Festival Animation Showcase

On September 22 the Newport Beach Film Festival will be showcasing a free encore presentation of all the animated shorts that had been screened while the festival was in regular session earlier this year. This program will be held at the Orange County Museum of Art.

Lucas adds info on CGI Clone Wars television series

At the SIGGRAPH 2005 computer graphics conference in Los Angeles, George Lucas mentioned his future computer animated Clone Wars television series, indicates the Internet Movie Database. According to Lucas, the show will be produced at Lucas Animation’s facilities in Singapore, where the Star Wars director is building a computer animation production plant.

Gargoyles: Season 2, Part 1 DVD arriving this December

According to Ultimate Disney, at last weekend’s Gathering of the Gargoyles convention in Las Vegas, Gargoyles creator/producer Greg Weisman revealed that the Gargoyles: Season 2, Part 1 DVD will be released this December. The three-disc DVD will feature 26 episodes of the series, specifically episodes 14-40, along with audio commentaries and other extras.

California and Florida 2D animators start 'Miracle' in Wisconsin

The July 28th edition of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel examines Miracle Studios, composed of artists from both Disney and Warner Bros. Located north of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the company, which has been producing small commercial projects for the past year, is busy working on their first feature length, traditionally animated film.
