Re: Disney Presents Secret World of Arrietty (Borrowers Anim
Good to see this film finally has a stateside theatrical release date! I had recently started to wonder whether it would ever see the light of projectors here, at all.
The title change is expected, but still clumsy-sounding.
Separate American and British dubs is unexpected .. but it does happen with anime dubs, sometimes; it's just not 'standard practice' for Disney.

Yeah; I just noticed that the UK dub has no 'Disney' branding .. so, it likely is from a different production/distribution company.

The Secret World of Arrietty
Wasn't sure if there was a thread for this:

Disney will be releasing a Studio Ghibli film again, written by Hayao Miyazaki and inspired/based on The Borrowers. (Directed by Hiromasa Yonebayashi)

You can’t just have your characters announce how they feel! That makes me feel angry!

Re: The Secret World of Arrietty
I saw Beauty & the Beast today, and finally saw the trailer for this. Perhaps it was just the way that the trailer was cut, but the voices seemed very..... I dunno.... off?? Or it could've just been that the dialogue was too bland. I really hope this doesn't mean that they've dumbed it down for the American dub.

since I don't live in a captial city I have buckley's chance of catching it until the eventual DVD release.

Uh, yeah, The Borrowers (written in 1951) is "pro-Occupy Wall Street"?
Okay, NOW they're just the kid burping at the table, after getting all the media attention for that Muppets stunt...
(And do they honestly believe The Lorax is going to have the same tree-hugging message as the book?--No, really, do they?)
Either that, or with the election coming up, they're trying to bring back the same "Evil Liberal Hollywood" card the Southern Baptists used to play, and can't remember which ones were Disney and which weren't.

Of course, Media Matters makes Fox News look tame. Both sides have their biased outlets. But neither side will admit it!

Utterly absurd. I can't undertsand anyone making that connection.
Incidentally, I found the movie overly quiet, though I'd stop short of saying it was boring. I liked it better than Earthsea, at least, but it's certainly a lesser Ghibli film. It's nicely told, with lots of nice touches, but there's really not much to the story.
