Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson are teaming to bring Tintin, Georges Remi’s Belgian comic-strip hero, to life with a trilogy of films to be released possibly by DreamWorks Animation. Spielberg and Jackson will each direct at least one of the movies, although it is unknown at this time who will direct the third picture. Kathleen Kennedy will produce the Tintin trilogy with Spielberg and Jackson. As for the films’ animation, full digital 3-D using performance capture technology will be utilized. Although the characters will maintain their comic designs, Jackson explains, “We’re making them look photorealistic; the fibers of their clothing, the pores of their skin and each individual hair. They look exactly like real people – but real Hergé people!” Variety has more on this news.
