Well, have we got something for you today!
How about a sneak peek at Disney’s all-new Goofy short How To Hook Up Your Home Theater, the first solo theatrical outing for The Goof in over 40 years? Well, we’ve got’cha covered with an exclusive interview with animators Andreas Deja and Mark Henn, who speak to our very own Christian Ziebarth about updating this classic character but keeping him true to the spirit of those original How To… cartoons. One thing I’m most excited about is that vocal chameleon Corey Burton – he of the perfect Hans Conried, Deems Taylor and Walt himself – is taking on narrator chores for Home Theater, meaning that he should sound dead on and be able to add John McLeish to his already impressive line up of masterful mimicry!
In other updates, I’ve been hard at work over the past week putting finishing touches to a trio of reviews: for the surprisingly entertaining Mickey Mouse Clubhouse: Mickey’s Great Clubhouse Hunt special based around the popular pre-school Disney Channel show, a return back to my childhood for another in BCI’s too good to be true Filmation sets, The Groovie Goolies: The Saturday Mourning Collection, and the totally baffling winner of this year’s Best Animated Feature Academy Award, the cute but creepy Happy Feet, George (Babe) Miller’s mix up of strange ideas clashing with too many themes and not enough restraint. Monster House was robbed, I tell ya!
Rand has also just checked in as promised with his review on the new Batman Beyond: Season 3 set, which looks to end the series in an adequate but fairly unspectacular fashion, and don’t forget that you have only one more day to enter our Justice League Unlimited Season 2 Giveaway!
Back soon! – Ben.
