At the UK’s British Academy of Film and Television Awards Sunday evening, Disney/Pixar director Lee Unkrich accepted the Best Animated Film award for Toy Story 3, further raising its chances to take the same prize at this year’s Oscars. Best Animated Short went to Michael Please’s The Eagleman Stag. Toy Story 3 lost out to The Social Network‘s Adapted Screenplay, and to Inception for Best Visual Effects, which also beat Alice In Wonderland, but Alice did win for Make-Up and Hair and Costume Design.
As of posting, The King’s Speech looked set to sweep the awards, with wins in music (beating Alice and How To Train Your Dragon), acting, screenplay and for Outstanding British Film. Joining the Academy with a Fellowship Award was Sir Christopher Lee, while the Harry Potter series was recognized for its Outstanding Contribution to British Cinema. A full run-down of nominations and winners can be found at the official Bafta website, updated throughout tonight’s ceremony.
