DreamWorks Animation’s final installment in one of the most profitable animated franchises of all time comes to a close today with the release of Shrek Forever After. The sequel seems to be dividing critics so far, with a current rating of 50% “Freshness” over at RottenTomatoes.com. One thing that most reviews seem to agree on, though, is that it’s a better movie than Shrek the Third, which was a critically panned but commercially successful sequel. Opening in 4,359 theaters according to Box Office Mojo, the movie is easily expected to open on top this weekend, especially thanks to the boost from 3-D screens. Box Office Prophets predicts a strong debut of around $95 million.
