Two of the first reviews for DreamWorks Animation’s MegaMind have recently been posted on the internet, with each one having a different response to the movie. Variety calls the film enjoyable enough, but says that it “comes off as a derivative wisecracking machine rather than a feat of sustained imagination.” The Hollywood Reporter, meanwhile, gives it a much more positive review, saying that the movie “arrives at a time when the whole superhero genre is beginning to feel a bit tapped out, but the fun director Tom McGrath and his clever writers Alan J. Schoolcraft and Brent Simons take in their dextrous plotting is sufficiently contagious to overcome the familiarity.” Starring Will Ferrell, Tina Fey and Brad Pitt, MegaMind takes over movie theaters everywhere on Friday.
