We’ve a crazy start to the week with my take on Warner Home Video’s new slice of the freakamanic Freakazoid!: Season 2, which concludes the program’s episodes on DVD.
The second season of the show didn’t manage to really build on the hyperactive sensibilities of the first, mainly down to the switch from the multiple segment format to stretching out the Freak’s stories to single story episode arcs, which not only reduces the concept of the show to something more routine, but takes away something from the strike rate of the jokes.
Nonetheless, this two-disc set does contain some genuine gold among its eleven shows, including a very good episode-length documentary retrospective that’s recommended for fans of either season.
Back soon, with thoughts on Star Trek, Tiny Toons Adventures: Volume 2 and more, so stay tooned! — Ben.
