We’ve a number of things to round the week out with, the first being Randall’s latest review, which was posted a couple of days ago, for the recent release of The Richie Rich Scooby-Doo Show: Volume One, a pretty bonkers combo if ever I heard one! Indeed, Rand seems to echo that sentiment as a Scooby fan, remarking that, “Of all the various iterations of Scooby-Doo that Hanna-Barbera put out on television, this is probably the one I least expected to see on DVD.” The Mystery Inc. gang have been dropped, with only Shaggy and Scrappy as backup! Better, though, are the Richie segments, which Rand is pleased to be able to see again: “It was nice to see Richie again, and even the Scrappy shows are amiable time-wasters [but] you have to be a really big Scooby fan in order to want to see this version again!”
Lastly, I just wanted to squeeze in another mention of the Elstree Film Festival 3 that I’ve been running this week, and how great it was to be joined by Jan Harlan, Brian Cook and Kubrick’s assistant Tony Frewin for a showing of the great man’s The Shining on Wednesday evening – even I learned a thing or two! Last night’s On The Buses double decker was fun, but even better is closing night later today, with Jeremy (Boba Fett) Bulloch himself coming down for a head to head with his character on stage. Should be exciting, after which The Empire Strikes Back will play, and end this year’s week-long celebration of film with Force!
Stay tooned! – Ben.
