It’s time for more Animaniacs with the Warner Home Video release of Volume 3 on DVD in a five-disc set on June 19, according to DVD Active. Priced at $44.98, the collection will be joined on the same day by a four-disc Pinky And The Brain Volume 3, with 25 and 22 episodes featuring in each set respectively. Head on over to that Active link for a sneak at the cover art!

And speaking of Warners, the good folks over at the Home Theater Forum held their annual webchat with representatives of the home entertainment division the other evening, and there were a bunch of exciting titles hinted at as well as some rumors quashed by the folks who know. Quite exciting is the news that – finally – we’ll be able to bring home Twilight Zone: The Movie on DVD in time for this Halloween. As you animation fans know, it’s a highly anticipated title thanks to Joe Dante’s part-cartoon It’s A Good Life segment. One-time animator Tim Burton’s (whatever happened to him?) BeetleJuice is getting the special edition treatment for its 20th anniversary next year, and Chuck Jones’ 1970 live-action/animation combination The Phantom Tollbooth is on the way, for either later this year or early next. Explaining the delay, WB stated that they have to create a new film element from the original faded negative and produce the new transfer from that, which means that the film should look pretty good when it hits disc!

Best of all is the news that the HFT will be holding a chat directly with representatives from the animation group soon. Keep an eye out at Bill Hunt’s excellent The Digital Bits for further updates, and they also have a full transcript of the 2007 chat in which many more classic motion pictures are teased. If you’re not only an animation fan but also one of “old Hollywood” like me, there’s lots to get excited about!
