Although our copy only just popped through the mail slot (and that review will be up just as soon as my little fingers can type those finicky words!), we wanted to remind you that Lionsgate’s DVD issue of Vanguard Animation’s Happily N’Ever After is out today (Amazon have it for around ten bucks off list price).

Though the big-screen released movie (featuring voices including Sarah Michelle Gellar, Freddie Prinze Jr, George Carlin, Sigourney Weaver and others) didn’t gain much favor in our own James R. Whitson’s theatrical review, the DVD has added a bunch of features that might just push you over the fence into checking this one out, and it certainly looks like it will appeal to those who found Hoodwinked to be a small surprise.

The Happily DVD adds a full-length audio commentary with director Paul J. Bolger, an alternative ending along with seven Lost In Fairy Tale Land deleted scenes, and a handful of behind-the-scenes featurettes: the Journey Of The Characters In The Enchanted Forest, Creating The Happily Story: Bringing N’Ever After To Life and From Storyboard To Fairy Tale: A Comparison, which run for over 40 minutes.

Rounding out the disc is a selection of games “from the Department of Fairy Tale Security”. The standard DVD version (available in both pan-and-scam and as originally intended widescreen) comes with English and Spanish Dolby dubs.

A simultaneous Blu-Ray Disc release carries a loaded DTS HD Master Audio track along with its correct widescreen aspect ratio.

For those not yet sold, YouTube has the official DVD preview and links to several other clips including the theatrical trailer and a sneak peek at the special features. Happily N’Ever After is out now, and my own take will be up just as soon as possible!
