Just as I was about to get our full review of the Flushed Away DVD up on Friday, the Internet Gods played havoc with my connection and decided to cut off my service. Grrrrrr!
The eagle-eyed among you may have noticed that the review sneaked online over the weekend, but if you didn’t notice, here’s a little prod to go over and see what I thought now. I really enjoyed this extremely entertaining outing from Aardman and DreamWorks and seriously lament its poor misfortunes at the box-office and the recent awards season as it deserved so much more. The good news is that the DVD is selling well, and hopefully more of you are discovering what could well be the most overlooked – and best – animated feature of 2006. Despite some announced bonus features which would have made this a perfect disc (but I at least couldn’t find), Flushed Away is very recommended.
And…if you haven’t already bought it yet, we’ve got you covered with our Flushed Away Giveaway in which we’ve two copies of the comedy to – get this – give away! Slink on over to our Contest Corner for that one, and don’t forget that you have a day or so to enter our Peter Pan giveaway from last week. Speaking of Pan, I’m working on getting my review of that 2-disc Platinum Edition up for this week, fingers crossed, though we’ll have a related piece on that film’s recent DVD launch for you tomorrow.
Lastly, Rand’s also just slipped in another new review, for Warners’ Teen Titans video feature Trouble In Tokyo, which doesn’t seem to impress him much. Man, I hope that upcoming Superman original movie knocks the socks off us as its press release suggests. Good to see DC finally doing something worthwhile with their biggest properties again, and that one comes right in time for my birthday too!
Stay tooned! – Ben.
