Cars took home the first trophy for Best Animated Feature at the 64th Annual Golden Globe Awards. The Song of the Heart from Happy Feet took the award for Best Original Song. Cars director John Lasseter spoke afterwards about the large number of animated films released in 2006. “I love animation. I’m a big supporter and I’m so excited about how many animated films were released this year – sixteen animated films were released this year – and its thrilling to see that… I’m just so proud to win this award for everyone at Pixar… It’s a shame we all have to compete because I love animation and I love the fact that all these great film makers like [Happy Feet‘s]George Miller are starting to work in animation. The water’s warm! Everybody come on in! Animation is fun!”
