The San Francisco Chronicle focuses on Goro Miyazaki, son of anime master Hayao Miyazaki. While Goro’s first film, Tales from Earthsea, became the biggest hit of the summer in Japan, its reviews failed to equal the acclaim Hayao Miyazaki’s masterpieces have received. “I realized for the first time how difficult it is to be the son of Hayao Miyazaki,” commented Goro. In the meantime, it appears as though it might be quite some time before Tales from Earthsea reaches U.S. theaters, as the Sci-Fi Channel will possess the domestic rights for the Earthsea novels until 2009.
