The Guardian reports that in a major surprise the Producers Guild of America nominated The Incredibles for their prestigious Best Picture award. As the PGA awards are presented by film producers, the very people who receive the trophies for Best Picture at the Academy Awards, they are considered a good indicator of Oscar success. Other nominees include Sideways, Million Dollar Baby, The Aviator, and Finding Neverland. If The Incredibles were to land an Oscar nomination for Best Picture it would be only the second time in history an animated film was so honored, the first being 1991’s Beauty and the Beast. The Producers Guild Awards will be handed out on January 22.
