As expected, Warner Home Video will release the immortal 1933 adventure King Kong, featuring iconic stop-motion effects by Willis O’Brien, to coincide with the release of the new version coming to theaters in Novmber. Video Business reports that the 2-disc set (featuring archival interview commentary, deleted footage and documentaries) will also come housed in a limited edition tin which includes the 1933 sequel Son of Kong and 1949’s Mighty Joe Young, featuring featurettes on Ray Harryhausen and commentary by Harryhausen, Ken Ralston and Terry Moore. Even more exciting is that Kong-remake director Peter Jackson has been “instrumental” in putting the bonus features together, what with the original King Kong being his favorite film. Look for the RKO classic in stores from November 22.
