Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit took the top spot for the weekend of October 7 – 9, 2005, reports Box Office Guru. Opening in 3,645 theaters, the stop-motion animated film grossed approximately $16.1 million, averaging $4,417 per theater. Studio research indicates that 68% of sales were from families and 85% categorized the critically acclaimed Curse of the Were-Rabbit in the top two boxes of “excellent” or “very good.” In reference to the stars of the flick, Wallace and Gromit, Jim Tharp, head of distribution for DreamWorks, stated, via Yahoo! Movies, “In the U.S., they weren’t as well-known as people might imagine. I think they certainly will be after this weekend.”
