DIK Animation Studios has announced that they will be creating an animated series based on the live action TV series smash hit Friends. Studio chief, Dan Mutschler, states, “Friends left the air at the height of its popularity. It would be crazy not to take advantage of that. Through the magic of animation we can keep the six friends looking young forever.” It is rumored that Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matthew Perry, and David Schwimmer have agreed to provide voices for their respective characters, but Matt LeBlanc, who is busy with his Friends spinoff Joey, will be replaced by Adam Mesh from NBC’s Average Joe and Average Joe 3. To take advantage of the animated medium a sorcerer’s hat-wearing mynah bird named Merlin and a pair of pandas named Ping and Pong will be added to the mix.
