Ain’t It Cool News reports that DreamWorks has beaten New Line Cinema in a bid to acquire Transformers. Supposedly, Hasbro was leaning towards accepting New Line’s offer until Steven Spielberg, the ‘S’ in DreamWorks SKG, got into a plane and flew to Rhode Island to personally meet with Hasbro’s team. As producer Don Murphy’s website states, look for a ‘major announcement’ to arrive at Comic Con.

Meanwhile, director Robert Zemeckis (Who Framed Roger Rabbit, The Polar Express) is reportedly looking into making the Transformers film with same motion-capture technology used in making The Polar Express.
