The San Francisco Business Times indicates that the company that made Finding Nemo may soon be finding another place to work. During the Emeryville City Council meeting on late Tuesday, Pixar Animation Studios threatened to leave Emeryville. This announcement came in response to the serious consideration council members are giving to eliminating most of the eight-foot-high metal fence that surrounds the company’s campus, confirms a company executive. In a rousing speech, Pixar facilities director Tom Carlisle presented the threat that left some council members nearly speechless and plenty of the city staff pale. Thus, the council concluded to postpone the decision for a week. “If the city takes away our fence, we will not stay in Emeryville,” Carlisle declared to council members during his second, more confrontational speech at the meeting. “This is very important to Steve Jobs. He has told me that twice today. My job is on the line here.” One can understand why the fence would be important to Jobs, as Carlisle explains, “people can walk right up to our building and look inside. We can’t allow that.” Thanks to Toon Zone for notice.
