Creating a new cartoon and basing it on a popular toy has almost always been a safe bet. But Animation Magazine has a report that may be taking this a bit too far. Pre-production on the first Slinky film – yes Slinky, the springy toy that is fun for a girl and a boy – will “begin in February 2004 for a fall 2005 delivery”. The Magic Quilt “will take family audiences into a land of enchantment and adventure as the cast of spring toys follows a trail from patch to patch on the mysterious title quilt.” Another feature length film and an animated TV series are also planned.
