As was anticipated, Suicide Squad won its second weekend at the box office, although the race was a bit tighter than many were expecting. Box Office Mojo is reporting a $43 million victory for the comic book actioner, but the real “wiener” of the weekend might’ve been Sausage Party, which nearly doubled some projections with a take of $33 million. Meanwhile, Disney’s critically acclaimed Pete’s Dragon remake made an “okay” $21 million, which was probably less than what the studio was hoping for after heavily marketing it during the Olympics. Final numbers are due tomorrow.
