ASIFA Madagascar screening

ASIFA-Hollywood will be holding a members-only screening (but anyone can be a member) of DreamWorks/PDI’s upcoming CGI film Madagascar on Monday, May 23rd, at Hollywood’s historic Egyptian Theater. And look for Animated News’ review of Madagascar in the next couple of days.

Henson Co. begins work on Dark Crystal sequel

Ain’t It Cool News indicates that the Henson Company is currently at work on The Power of the Dark Crystal, the sequel to the 1982 film. The Power of the Dark Crystal is being scripted by David Odell, writer for the first Dark Crystal film, and Annette Duffy.

CGI Ninja Turtles teaser poster

JoBlo has the teaser poster for the computer animated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie coming in 2007.

Kronk's New Groove screenccaps

Ultimate Disney has six screencaps from Kronk’s New Groove, which looks to have a December 2005 or January 2006 direct-to-video release. A 30-second promo for the film will be available to view from the Sneak Peeks menu of Disney’s Classic Cartoon Favorites, coming to DVD on May 31th.

AWN reports that Swordplay Entertainment is working on an animated feature film based on Robert E. Howard’s creation. Conan: Red Nails is a 2D/3D feature scheduled for release on DVD in 2006, with a possibility of theatrical release.

Bambi II coming to a theater near you . . . as long as you live in Europe

A source at Disney has informed us that Bambi and the Great Prince of the Forest will be released early next year as a direct-to-video title in the United States but will be released theatrically in at least parts of Europe.
