A few weeks ago, many were surprised when the low-budget Christian movie Alone Yet Not Alone got a nomination for Best Song at the Oscars…especially since most people had never heard of the film before then. Now another shock comes with the news that Alone Yet Not Alone has been disqualified from the Academy Awards, EW reported yesterday. The reason? The song’s composer, Bruce Broughton, was a former Governor of the Academy and a current member of its executive committee, emailed voters to “campaign” for the film. As a result, there will now be only four songs in the category now, including Let It Go from Frozen, Happy from Despicable Me 2, The Moon Song from Her, and Ordinary Love from Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom. No song will be nominated in Alone Yet Not Alone’s place.
