With Academy Award nominations set to be announced Thursday, “Showbiz Awards” site GoldDerby takes a look at the chances of Frozen. On the odds of getting a Best Picture nomination: “Perhaps the movie’s biggest detriment to playing in the big leagues is the Academy’s long-held penchant for overlooking animated films… over the past 85 years of Oscar ceremonies, a whopping 503 films have been nominated for Best Picture, with only three of those being animated”. And on the chances of Frozen getting a shot at matching the record for most Oscars by an animated feature: “Our odds have Frozen in the top position to take two categories at the Oscars… As no full-length animated film has ever won more than two Oscars… Disney’s blockbuster is on track to tie the record”.
