Walt Disney’s 1961 live-action feature The Parent Trap (which featured a classic stop-motion animated opening sequence) is being lined up to appear on the Mouse’s ABC Network as a new TV show, produced by the company’s Touchstone Television in association with Smallville production company Tollin/Robbins Productions. The update, which shifts the story’s emphasis away from the twins, will be a series of half-hours “refocusing the story so it is more from the perspective of two very different parents”, according to Brian Robbins, “but the twins will obviously have a prominent position”.

The ABC site also announces that the producers “are seeking adorable, outgoing and fun-loving twin girls to play the roles of Hallie and Annie in the Parent Trap television series”. If you are (or know!) an identical twin girl, between the ages of 11-15 years old, then visit the site, where details for casting auditions are happening until January 10th, with applicants invited to submit their tapes and/or find their nearest Open Casting Call locations. Good luck!
