After months of intense marketing from Warner Bros., the studio’s big-budget superhero movie Green Lantern flew off to a solid start with $52 million, Box Office Mojo is reporting. Unfortunately, the movie got very negative reviews for the most part, so it might be hard for the film to display strong legs. Meanwhile, Kung Fu Panda 2 suffered at the hands of another movie in the family market, the Jim Carrey-driven Mr. Popper’s Penguins, and saw a drop of 47%. It now has a domestic total of $143 million.
