Arriving on DVD today is Tarzan II, the latest Disney direct-to-video midquel. Those questioning whether or not to check the film out may find help from reviews coming from a number of sites. Most critics seem to have a middle-of-the-road take on the film. For example, DVD File critiques, “It’s painfully obvious that Disney executives are trying to make an easy, built-in-audience buck instead of trying to make a fresh, new animated feature (sigh). But the director and cast put their full effort into making an interesting story and mildly succeed.” DVD Talk likewise notices the film’s improvement over past Disney DTV’s, giving the film a score of 3/5 and remarking, “If it’s only fair to knock the studio for churning out what’s clearly some inferior product, I think it’s only right to take notice when said product starts to show signs of improvement.”
