AWN reports that John H. Williams is producing Phreex, an animated feature about a group of rejected lab animals. Working with a screenplay from Matt Corman and Chris Ord, Williams will start the search for partners soon. Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi, who collaborated with Williams for his Vanguard studio’s Valiant, are producing Phreex as well. Regarding the project, Hay explains, “It’s a really funny script, but the heart of the film is the heart. We are aiming for a poignant film. Kids many times grow up feeling like freaks and thinking they are the only one like that. The irony is that everyone feels that way. It’s really about accepting who you are and finding a community.”
