The unsinkable has officially been sunk: Avatar surpassed Titanic yesterday and has become the highest grossing movie of all time. The film now has an enormous take of $601 million, beating Titanic’s $600 million. While the epic romance of 1997 is still the higher grossing movie when inflation is brought in to play, Avatar could still have a long way to go from here, with a potential final domestic gross of anywhere between $650 million and $700 million. In addition, the sci-fi movie is also the highest grossing movie of all time worldwide, becoming the first movie to ever cross the $2 billion mark.
