Randall Cyrene at DVD Toons has posted a review of the DVD release of the most recent Peanuts special, I Want A Dog For Christmas, Charlie Brown. If Disney’s recent CGI-ing of its classic characters has disappointed some we can all be glad that the Peanuts characters are still lovingly rendered in traditional hand-drawn animation as they would certainly be the worst cartoon characters to attempt rendering in three dimensions (even in 2D they flip more than turn). The special is based on comic strips written by Charles Schulz while he was alive (as he specified any specials made after his death must be) and is not meant to replace the classic A Charlie Brown Christmas, but is just some more warm, fuzzy Peanuts goodness.
