IBM Japan has announced the development of Sword Art Online: The Beginning, a virtual reality massively multiplayer online role-playing program that plans to immerse players into the game similarly to how it is portrayed in the anime series.

Gematsu has translated the information to detail that the project will utilize a new computing software called Cognitive System. It will presumably allow for human decision-making, giving players greater control over how their character move, act, and behave in a realistic manner.

IBM will be running a prototype alpha test in Tokyo between March 18 and 20. Up to 208 applicants will be accepted through the project’s web site with the deadline being March 4.
