It’s that time of year again! The 2014 Oscar nominations were announced this morning, with Big Hero 6, The Boxtrolls, How to Train Your Dragon 2, Song of the Sea, and The Tale of Princess Kaguya being the five nominations for Best Animated Feature. A shock to virtually everyone should be The Lego Movie not getting a nomination in that category, especially since it was considered by many to be a frontrunner to win. Still, the critically acclaimed film wasn’t left completely empty-handed, as Everything Is Awesome! was nominated in the Best Song category. Meanwhile, Feast, Me & My Moulton, A Single Life, The Dam Keeper, and The Bigger Picture were the five nominations in the Best Animated Short category. And Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Guardians of the Galaxy, Interstellar, and X-Men: Days of Future Past were the five films nominated for Best Visual Effects. A full list of nominations can be found on the Academy’s official website.
