Legends of Oz: Dorothy’s Return–the first movie from new production company Summertime Entertainment–saw a record-breaking weekend, but not in a good way. Cartoon Brew is reporting that the movie had the lowest opening for an animated film playing on more than 2,500 screens ever, “beating” 2011’s Hoodwinked Too! The movie made just $3.7 million, which is especially unfortunate when the movie’s (surprising) $70 million production budget is taken into account. Supposedly, the plan was for Legends to launch off a franchise, but it’s unlikely that will happen now, at least with theatrical releases.
