Disney’s much-marketed Big Hero 6 finally hits theaters today, opening on 3,700 screens, Box Office Mojo is reporting. The movie has been scoring very well with critics so far, earning an 88% “freshness” rating over at Rotten Tomatoes, with the concensus being that “agreeably entertaining and brilliantly animated, Big Hero 6 hits its target audience — even if it doesn’t reach the transcendent creative heights of some recent Disney efforts.” Following the studio’s string of blockbusters, Box Office Prophets predicts a victory over Insterstellar with an opening weekend take of $62 million.
