Anthropomorphization of just about anything is a typical creative meme and is mostly regulated to the fandom sector. In a launch to appeal to its Asian comsumers, especially Japan, Microsoft decided that Internet Explorer needed to become an anime heroine. Say what? Internet Explorer is often the punchline for IT jokes and Microsoft wanted to show they have actively been making improvements to the browser with a new campaign starring Inori Aizawa, a young superheroine who fights viruses using her IE powers. Inori’s appearance is attached to the IE 11 launch for Windows 7. She is by far not a new mascot for Microsoft, but more of a new way for users to look at the browser and the new features it offers. Inori made her debut with a two minute magical girl anime clip that does indeed make IE more appealing as well as offer cool idea for a new show.
