The long-reported Night at the Museum 3 has finally been given an official greenlight from Fox, ComingSoon.net is reporting. As with the first two films in the franchise, the movie will be helmed by family friendly director Shawn Levy and star Ben Stiller as wisecracking security guard Larry Daley. No details on the plot are available, but cast members such as Owen Wilson are almost certain to make comebacks. Although the first sequel, Battle of the Smithsonian, opened over Memorial Day weekend in 2009, the third film will come out during the holiday season like the 2006 original, opening on Christmas Day, 2014.
