Animated Views has a new screenshot from CAOZ’s Egill, a computer animated feature integrating hand drawn elements. Egill is the second CGI film from the Reykjavík-based studio, whose first feature, Legends of Vahalla: Thor, hit U.S. stores last March as Thor: Legend of the Magical Hammer. CAOZ is co-producing Egill with the Hungarian production company Lichthof Productions.
The following is the film’s synopsis:
Poet and Viking warrior Egill Skallagrímsson is a historic figure who lived in Iceland in the 10th century. He was both unruly and fascinating, and his spirit was quite unique.
The ugly, hulky boy was born into a family of great warriors. Although wild and uncontrollable in his childhood, he grows up to be a wise man, who finds his place in that ever-changing world and lives up to the fate promised him by Odin, the Viking god of poetry and war, to become the greatest poet ever in Icelandic history.
The story evolves around Egill’s fight for love and justice against Erik, the king of Norway, and Gunnhild, his witch queen. Egill prevails, but the price of his victory is much heavier than he ever imagined.
Egill is currently in pre-production, as CAOZ raises funds to complete the project. A tentative release date is undetermined at this time.
