We’ve been getting an onslaught of exciting Disney news all afternoon thanks to Disney’s D23, and now ComingSoon.Net has given us the news via their live-blogging of the event that the studio’s original feature for 2016 will be called Zootopia, which will be helmed by Tangled director Byron Howard. Very little is known about the project at this point, of course, but it will take place in a world where humans do not exist and anthropomorphic animals have built a massive city as only they would build it. No official release date is currently available, but Disney has reserved dates for both March 4th and November 23rd of that year, so it will presumably open in either the spring or the fall.
UPDATE: Disney has revealed concept art for the film on their Facebook page, stating that the plot of the movie will center around “a fox who is framed for a crime he didn’t commit.”
