The Simpsons have been around for twenty-three years and this Sunday, their 500th episode “At Long Last” will air on FOX. In celebration of this TV milestone, FOX challenged its viewers to a watch all 500 episodes back to back. Fans Jeremiah Franco and Carin Shreve set a Guinness World Record for the longest continuous television watching of all The Simpsons episodes clocking in at 86 hours and 37 minutes. Former Simpsons writer Conan O’Brien had this to say about the series, “The Simpsons came from the old world of television, Fox was an upstart, it was just the big three networks and The Cosby Show was still dominant. And now, 23 years later, we’re living in this world of 650,000 channels and literally nine cake shows. And yet The Simpsons is still with us. It’s probably the only real bridge from the old world of media into the new world of media.”
