Confirming rumors from earlier, Jason Segal has announced that he will not be involved in the upcoming Muppets sequel, Collider is reporting. Segal’s reason for not returning is apparently exhaustion, given the very long ammount of time it took him to help bring the first film to theaters. “My goal was to bring The Muppets back and I did that leaving them in very good hands, my writing partner and James Bobin the director,” he said. “I’m sure I’ll return in some capacity here and there, but that was half a decade of my life. Five years of hard work. I’m ready for a little puppet break.” It is unknown which direction Disney will choose to go with the sequel, but it does seem likely that Walter the Muppet–the brother of Segal’s character in the first one–will make a return.
