Awards season has begun! After the Annie nominations this morning, the New York Film Critics’ Circle has announced the winners of their annual prizes. And the animation award went to Disney and Tim Burton’s Frankenweenie. However, that may not be a harbinger of Oscar glory. Since the Academy started giving out an animated feature award in 2001, the winner of the NYFCC animation prize only went on to win the Oscar four times.
