Disney/Pixar’s Brave opens today in a Pixar record 4,164 theatres according to Box Office Mojo — and two-thirds of those theatres will be showing it in 3D. It’s earned a fresh 73% rating from Rotten Tomatoes with the critical consensus being that while it “may not live up to the lofty standards of the Pixar brand” it does offer a “rousing, funny fantasy adventure with … surprising depth”. Box Office Mojo projects the film will easily top the weekend with $64.7 million, giving Pixar its 13th-straight first place debut. Box Office Prophets predicts a similar weekend placement with $59.7 million.
