Disney’s upcoming live-action movie The Lone Ranger will ride off into the sunset just before the Christmas of 2012, Deadline is reporting. That currently puts it up against such high profile releases as Zack Snyder’s Superman reboot and Peter Jackson’s first Hobbit movie. The update of the classic TV series will star The Social Network’s Armie Hammer as the title character, while Johnny Depp will possibly steal the show as his sidekick Tonto. The movie is from director Gore Verbinski, who recently took audiences to an animated version of the old west in the critically acclaimed Rango, which also starred Depp.
