DreamWorks is continuing it’s encroachment into rival Disney’s turf, this time in the vacation field. The company has announced an alliance with Gaylord to bring the DreamWorks Animation characters to the chain’s line of hotels. At first the partnership will consist of character meals, private parties and shows at Gaylord’s four properties in Orlando, Dallas, Washington, and Nashville, but that could expand to things like themed rooms as well in the future. According to USA Today, Gaylord Entertainment CEO Colin Reed said “We’re competing with Disney for the leisure customer… What we believe we can do is make this an even more intimate experience”. Dreamworks CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg pointed out where they can stand apart from the Mouse: “Disney isn’t in Nashville. Disney isn’t in Dallas. Disney isn’t in Maryland. What we want to do is give you the opportunity to make the choice.”
