The Simpsons could meet a sudden and abrupt end if a current financial issue involving the show isn’t resolved soon. According to MSN, FOX TV will refuse to finance future episodes if the voice actors involved in the show do not agree to have their salaries cut. Currently, the lead actors on the show get $8 million per season, something that Fox said in a recent statement that they simply can’t afford. The statement says that the animated series is “as creatively vibrant as ever and beloved by millions around the world. We believe this brilliant series can and should continue, but we cannot produce future seasons under its current financial model.” Given how popular The Simpsons remains for the network, however, it seems somewhat unlikely that the show will actually be cancelled. But even if that were to happen, with almost 500 episodes, the show could last for a long time in syndication.
