Disney’s massive Cars 2 marketing campaign has paid off. The film is the highest grossing animated film in the US for 2011. Since it premiered on June 24, the movie has earned a total of $189 million and $548 million when you combine it with the international earnings. There are three months remaining in the year and Cars 2 will probably keep the belt, unless a new film is released that can beat a Pixar movie.
